NOTICE

About Dinosaur National Monument

The historic Dinosaur Fossil Bone Quarry (building only) was closed in July, 2006 due to significant life, health, and safety issues. The building is under construction right now and all fossils are located within the construction zone. Although that main exhibit of fossils is not currently available to the public, visitors can see some fossils in the Temporary Visitor Center and by taking a free shuttle and making a hike down the road from the visitor center. Everything else at Dinosaur National Monument is open!

Construction began in the spring of 2010 and will last between 12 and 18 months. The visitor center reopening is planned for the fall of 2011. Click here to learn more about the construction and the new visitor center.

The exhibit hall that protects and provides public access to the 1,500 dinosaur fossils will be rehabilitated. The remainder of the building will be demolished and the visitor center functions will be relocated to a new building approximately ½ mile away.

The Colorado side of Dinosaur Nat'l Monument

The Canyon Area of the park (on the Colo. side) is over 210,000 acres with spectacular geology, Indian Rock Art, remains of early homesteading and the outlaw trail, white water rafting and hiking.  However, you will not find any dinosaur fossils in the Canyon Area.

If you're looking for a river guide to the Green and Yampa rivers
in Dinosaur National Monument we have the very best. If you want to learn more about the world-famous fish fossils found in Fossil Butte National Monument, we have books for every interest level. If you'd like to find a scientifically accurate Allosaurus claw replica, simply browse our extensive Fossil Replicas section. Need fishing maps for Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area? We have those too.

We're much more than a specialty store. INHA is a partner with public lands management agencies working to preserve our shared national heritage. Profits from our all sales are donated back to our partners to help with scientific, educational and interpretive efforts of those agencies.
